To better prepare your building for electrical, plumbing, and other utilities, we are able to design your barn, cabin, or barn home with a service cavity detail. On the walls, a spacer is added between each post and the SIPs—Structural Insulated Panels—to accommodate electrical systems. On the second floor, I-joists are added above the timber frame floor system to create a cavity for plumbing and other utilities. By utilizing our service cavity detail, finish contractors will be able to install utilities the same as usual. The full depth of the timber frame structure remains exposed on the interior.
