Monitor Barn Raising in Western Montana
On a several thousand acre ranch in Western Montana, our crew raised the timber frame for a 44' x 54' Riverton Monitor Barn. The Monitor Barn is versatile, featuring all timber frame construction—mortise & tenon—the real traditional way a barn should be built. A raised center section has an incredible second floor loft with 7' knee walls. The barn has tall ceilings, plus two lean-tos flanking the center section for even more space. In only 2.5 days, the timber frame was completely raised—without breaking out a saw—because our precision CNC manufacturing crafted the detailed timber connections ahead of time at our shop in Ellington, Connecticut.
The Barn Yard’s crew of in-house craftspeople, engineers, designers, and project managers travel all over the country to raise timber structures. We can work with your local builder or contractor. Or, you can use one of The Barn Yard’s legacy contractors, available nationwide, to finish the build.
Buying a kit from The Barn Yard means a seamless process. We provide options from a full raising to one of our supervisors on site, but we don't stop there. We want to make sure the complete build—from final finishes to details in the roofing and the door & window installation, the authentic mortise & tenon joinery, the quality, the precision—is up to our standards, and becomes your legacy project.
We’re honored to carry on the tradition of timber framing.
