Lucas moved his family of 6 from the flat lands of Illinois to the hills of CT to work for The Barn Yard. He utilizes his background in construction to educate the customer about what to look for and ensure their confidence when it comes time to make a purchase.
Lucas spent the first 11 years of his life in a large suburb of Chicago, Illinois. At age 11, his family moved to a small town of 650 people in central Illinois where his mother had grown up.
Moving from the ‘big city’ to a rural town was quite a change, but I loved the country life, the wide open spaces, and small town feel.
Graduating from a high school of about 450 kids, Lucas played basketball and a little baseball during his 4 years. After high school, he went right to work on a local farm, and after a few years got into the construction field. Lucas has been involved in construction of some type ever since.
There isn’t much that I won’t tackle on a job site, and I am very particular and detail oriented in everything that I do. (My wife and parents would tell you that I am very much a perfectionist.)
Lucas married Diana in February 2003. They have four children, Collin, Halle, Bryce, and Dylan. In 2014, after accepting his sales position at The Barn Yard, he and his family moved to Connecticut. Moving from the flat lands of Illinois to the hills of CT was quite a shock, but they settled in quickly. It wasn’t long before the Gudeman family felt at home, taking full advantage of all the outdoor activities New England has to offer.
I love that there is so much to do in New England, and you don’t have to travel far to find fun for the entire family! I was never much of a fisherman, but the first time I went fishing for striped bass and blue fish in Long Island Sound I was ‘hooked!’ (pun fully intended)
While at work, Lucas really enjoys the interaction that he has with customers.
It is so rewarding to help someone from start to finish on their project. Finding and filling their need, while delivering a beautiful product. From our smallest sheds, to our largest custom garages and homes. I am most partial to the natural beauty that you find in our Timber Frame line of buildings. You won’t find the beauty or quality anywhere else in the industry. (I can say that without reservation, as I have experience in many areas of construction, across half of the country.) It is a pleasure to work with and sell quality, second to none.
Lucas is a valuable resource to our customers, utilizing his background in construction to educate the customer about what to look for and ensure their confidence when it comes time to make a purchase. We’re thankful to have Lucas and his family with us here in CT.
