Estimator - Timber Frame & Custom Construction

The Barn Yard designs and builds custom stick frame and timber frame barns, homes, pavilions, event venues, equestrian facilities, and one-of-a-kind custom buildings throughout the country. We’re looking for a detail-oriented Estimator to help price unique, high-quality projects from concept through construction. If you enjoy combining numbers, craftsmanship, and problem-solving—and want to work on projects that are anything but cookie-cutter—this role is for you.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets
- Perform material takeoffs from drawings
- Price lumber, timber, hardware, and finishes
- Solicit and compare subcontractor/vendor quotes
- Collaborate with sales, project management, design, and production teams
- Support proposals and pre-construction planning
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years estimating or project management experience in construction, carpentry, residential construction.
- Ability to read blueprints and construction documents
- Strong Excel, estimating software, and organizational skills
- Bluebeam or CAD experience
- Detail-oriented with practical building knowledge
- Timber frame, carpentry, or residential construction experience preferred
- Able to think practically about how buildings actually get built—not just what’s on paper
